Description:

Attention!!! Please don't use the comment section to report issues. Use our issue tracker, because it is used to track issues ;-).

Real-time chat app for ownCloud with OTR, SMP and video calls (WebRTC). This app requires external XMPP server (openfire, ejabberd etc.). Starting from 3.0 we are shipping an experimental (not all features yet, maybe not stable) XMPP server written in PHP.

To use this chat you need the same password in ownCloud and XMPP.

e.g. OC: klaus or klaus@example.org
XMPP: klaus@example.org

You get a free TURN account for video calls at http://numb.viagenie.ca

Installation manual: https://github.com/sualko/jsxc/wiki/Install-ojsxc-(owncloud)

For more information please visit http://www.jsxc.org.

After you enabled and configured the app in the admin panel, you should see a small gray border on the right side of your window. Now you have two opportunities to start: Click on the gray border or log off and log in again.

 Where is the Web-UI

 by RST-J on: Aug 6 2015

Score 50%

Although this question might make me appear stupid: Where in owncloud can I find the UI to use the chat after successful installation?

I configured ejabberd and apache accordingly and get to the "everything is fine" page for the proxy.
Also the configuration in owncloud finds the BOSH server. But what now? Where can I chat?

If that is important: I have neither checked "Allow user to overwrite XMPP settings" nor "Hide roster after first login" and left all TURN settings blank.

If everything works as expected you should see the roster on the right side after login. Otherwise click on the small gray border on the right side.

Ah, thanks, found it.
But now, when I try to login with my owncloud username and password, there immediately appears a message in the roster where it says 'no connection'. But the login form stays with disabled connect button which says 'Connecting ...'.
In the the ejabberd log I have a message telling me that a connection was accepted but nothing more meaningful. The oc.log stays empty.

Any hint on how I can check ejabberd auth or what might go wrong here?

 IE

by Luticus on: Aug 7 2015

The new version has broken logins on IE again. I've tested this on 9, 10, and 11. The Login button does nothing and the link for "login without chat" is missing.

It works fine on chrome and Firefox though.

Unfortunately my users are reporting broken IE logins again with version 2.1.2. I'm running OC 8.1 and can confirm this happens on IE 8 and 10. The Owncloud login box is broken, and the link to log in without chat is missing. My recommendation is move the link beside the normal button and make that one log in WITH chat, and leave the normal button untouched so that if you break IE again, IE users can still log in to the rest of OC. I also think it would look nicer with 2 buttons rather than a button and a link.

Still a bit hard to debug

miradata e.K.

The app works fine as long both ends are on the same LAN but miserably fails if NAT is involved. (The VoIP Classic :-) ) So I set up an TURN account as suggested but it doesn't work. Neither does my own TURN server which I installed.

It is a bit hard to debug the app - as it doesn't write anything of use into oc's log nor is it possible to enable Info and see what's going on.

 Permissions

by eliemicb on: Oct 16 2015

One more step, then I am ready to go. BOSH server is ready according to owncloud admin settings. I get an Authentication failure in $:/var/log/ejabberd/oc.log

I even know why. https://github.com/jsxc/jsxc/issues/153

Thing is, I don't want to just change the whole oc root over to ejabberd and destroy the carefully preserved permissions structure via OwnClouds recommended script (https://doc.owncloud.org/server/8.1/admin_manual/installation/installation_wizard.html#label-setting-strong-perms).

So what to do?

Are there specific files ejabberd needs permissions for and not the whole owncloud root directory?

Thank you for all the effort!
