Description:

Attention!!! Please don't use the comment section to report issues. Use our issue tracker, because it is used to track issues ;-).

Real-time chat app for ownCloud with OTR, SMP and video calls (WebRTC). This app requires external XMPP server (openfire, ejabberd etc.). Starting from 3.0 we are shipping an experimental (not all features yet, maybe not stable) XMPP server written in PHP.

To use this chat you need the same password in ownCloud and XMPP.

e.g. OC: klaus or klaus@example.org
XMPP: klaus@example.org

You get a free TURN account for video calls at http://numb.viagenie.ca

Installation manual: https://github.com/sualko/jsxc/wiki/Install-ojsxc-(owncloud)

For more information please visit http://www.jsxc.org.

After you enabled and configured the app in the admin panel, you should see a small gray border on the right side of your window. Now you have two opportunities to start: Click on the gray border or log off and log in again.

BOSH server NOT reachable - again

 by seppi91 on: Mar 31 2014

Hi,
unfortunately I also can't figure out how to properly configure my ojsx client. I installed and configured ejabberd ON THE SAME SERVER AS OWNCLOUD as you stated in your github wiki [enabled mod_http_bind, and changed to extauth_program]
But when I fill in '/http-bind/' in BOSH Url, ojsxc is reporting:

BOSH server NOT reachable. Please beware of the SOP. If your XMPP server doesn't reside on the same host as your OwnCloud, use the Apache ProxyRequest or modify the CSP by defining "custom_csp_policy" in OwnCloud's config.php.

But as my XMPP Service is running on the same server i dont have to define custom_csp_policy, right? So what's wrong? I also tried to enter 'domain.tld/http-bind/' but this results in the same error.

Hi,

1st, my setup:
Ubuntu 13.10 server
Apache 2.4.6
Owncloud 6.0.2
ejabberd 2.1.10

I follow your installation-steps and after entering BOSH url to /http-bind/ and XMPP domain localhost - Save settings I get: BOSH Server reachable

=> everything seems fine

But I have 2 issues:
1. Chat-Window say: No connection, Log in (I've translated ;))
If I try to log in, a new window appear with:
Username: {{my_jid}}
Password:
If I put my OC password in, login failed. With my username and password also login failed.

2. After loging out, I can't log in anymore. I also see the hint with mod_proxy and mod_proxy_http, but adding this in the ejabberd.cnf under modules, ejabberd don't start.

Can you tell me, what is wrong and what I must do, to make it done?

 Login to xmpp without owncloud

by plebevt on: Jun 3 2014

Isn't it a bit of a security hole to allow anyone (with a valid configured xmpp login) to have external access (outside of owncloud) to xmpp without having to login to owncloud first?
I can see an easy source of abuse for someone to guess/hack at an xmpp server and use this app as an attack source (as it automatically acts as a client that may only be valid in one context. Please consider not providing access to xmpp until after one has logged into owncloud first.

Sorry, but I don't see the security hole. As you said the attacker needs some valid credentials to login and in this case he can login with every desktop client. So where is the security problem?

So, I can login to your owncloud instance, brute force the xmpp server (or find an anonymous domain), and use the xmpp client externally, (without a valid owncloud account) ?

I can't detect any security issues, because

- the attacker can "login with every desktop client" to the xmpp server independent of oc.
- He can only connect to the given bosh server (same-origin-policy).
