| Question: | Hi, I've modified a theme that was under GPL license and now i want to upload it on gnome-look; now, the question is: must I ask permission to the owner of the original theme before I can upload it or can I simply upload it? I'm sorry for my bad English and I hope this question won't sound stupid.
Thanks to you all

| | Answer: | The GPL allows changing of packages and redistribution of the changes (But you have make the source-code of the changes available also. No clue how this applies to themes...not sure if there is much source-code to distribute). So it's not needed to get the permission of the author to make some derived work public...but of course a mail with links what you made out of the initial work is always nice.
