Did you enter your ownCloud server information in the settings dialog and tested your connection?

On which platform are you using QOwnNotes? Windows?

Do you have OpenSSL installed?

I use it on windows and I also have SSL 64 for Windows installed, i found the mistake, I had a backslash after owncloud in owncloud server url, after removing the backslash i could connect

Ok, great.
I will try to make the connection test more transparent to users.

The new connection troubleshooter in the settings dialog of QOwnNotes v0.41 will ease such troubles a bit.

Hi! Initially i was hesitant to do all the install job for 'Qownnote' on my desktop thinking "Do i need yet another notepad?". However, i went ahead and i must admit that i am really impressed and happy. Great job indeed.
P.S. For other users: You can use Qownnote as a standalone notepad on windows, linux or Mac even if you don't use owncloud. However its full power can be realized with owncloud QOwnnote api.
